Bruce Chimani

Heyo! My name is Bruce, a Zimbabwean native, with a Youngstown accent! I have the privilege of pastoring our College Students and Young Adults here at Old North Church (ages 18-29).

I am convinced beyond a doubt that God’s Spirit works as we prayerfully proclaim God’s Word and patiently wait for fruit: and this is the framework I think about when I help to make and grow disciples in our church. We have the privilege of running an on-campus ministry at Youngstown State University called “The Bible Talks”, where we seek to open Bibles with college students and hear what God has to say in a variety of formats — preaching, small group studies, and one-to-one Bible reading pairs.

We have a growing and very excited group of college students and young adults at Old North Church, and I am blessed to be a part of this good work.

I graduated with a BSc in Journalism and Media Studies from NUST in Zimbabwe and have worked as a reporter for The Sunday News (a local weekly in Zimbabwe). I came to Old North Church as a Ministry Apprentice in 2020 after I had served in various pastoral roles in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, and in Durban, South Africa. I am married to the wonderful Miss Brittany, and we have one little girl, Aneni. I am also enrolled at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where I am pursuing an MDiv with a concentration in Preaching and Pastoral Ministry.

I spend my spare-time thinking about how everyone should absolutely own an air fryer or playing local pick-up soccer when I can. I am also unashamedly a coffee snob.
